Slot Missions in Hogwarts Slot missions are an excellent way to earn gear weapons, gear and other items. They're difficult to complete. It's currently shaped as a pistol which makes it difficult to distinguish the smuggled item slot from other slots for gear. The smuggle slot can house an array of objects, ranging from simple concussion devices, to weapons-grade explosives. These items can be found in hidden locations throughout the map. They can be picked up at anytime. Smuggled items are distinct from Agency Pickups and Hidden Stashes that hide only small objects within scenery and objects directly. Mission planning is an option available in missions that are episodic. It allows players to discover different starting points, smuggled objects, and gear slots prior to entering the map. As players advance through challenges and unlock new Mission Mastery levels, these planning options increase. This lets players plan the ideal task for every challenge. Gear Slot Early on in the game players will find their gear slots become full, resulting in the frequently-repeated “Your Gear Slots are Full” message which prevents Max from picking new equipment until the old items are cleared or a larger space is found. The solution to this problem is the Hogwarts Legacy Merlin Trials which give players more inventory space in exchange for the completion of challenges. However, as the majority of these challenges are scattered across the world and can be overlooked, it may take some time to get the maximum number of inventory slots available in-game. The five Gear Slots of a player can be filled with up to five different gear types, which must be selected in the Gear Selection menu before a Break-In begins. Each gear item (except for the Pistol), takes up one Gear Slot, while a grouping of similar items (such as a grouping of Grenades) only uses one Gear Slot. Agency Pickups As you progress in Mission Mastery levels, you unlock various agency pickups across the map. These locations allow you to store items that don't fit in your concealed weapon or gear slot. You can get them back later. These pickups can be very useful if your mission requires you to pass through a frisk or you carry a weapon with you that could raise suspicion. You are only able to hide only one item at a pick-up location. This DLC also adds new asset protection and security contracts to the agency. To begin these missions simply talk to the agency receptionist and stock up on armor and snacks. Once you've reached the mission marker be sure to identify a group upon arrival.
